Overview
Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP is currently seeking a full-time lawyer-librarian. Our intention is that the successful candidate will work closely with the firm’s lawyers and students to facilitate the efficient use of knowledge resources, with the objective of reinforcing the firm’s tradition of excellence in work and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and facilitate access to and use of the firm’s knowledge resources (online and print)
- Provide training to lawyers and students on the role of lawyer-librarian and the availability and use of knowledge resources
- Respond to lawyers and students’ questions about knowledge resources, suggest research sources and approaches, and help with research
- Decide on library acquisitions (online and print)
- Maintain and expand the firm’s internal precedent inventory
- Negotiate, catalogue and administer the firm’s library services contracts
Qualifications
- JD or LL.B., with a minimum of two years of experience in a law firm preferred.
- Knowledge of legal research methodology
- Sound Online Research Skills
- Aptitude for technology and interest in AI
- Ability to provide one-on-one and group instruction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Salary Range
Competitive, dependent on experience.
